Family drawing

Chloe drew this awesome picture of our family.  Abby is wearing her carhart overalls and I'm wearing a grey skirt.  She even drew in our little rats.  Of corse I love the rainbow among us.  We'll be keeping this on the frame wall for a while.

Grandpa Bill

On April 4, 2012- Grandpa Bill passed away.
Here are a collection of pictures of Grandpa Bill and Chloe over the years.  He was a proud and love-filled grandpa.  He never missed a birthday or Christmas.  His creativity and love of life have been passed on and will live forever in us, his family.

YMCA pick-up

I arrived to pick Chloe up from YMCA and she was in the middle of drawing a picture with another kid across the table from her. She came over to me and said "mom, I'm really glad you're here to pick me up right now, but do you think I could stay to finish my picture?" (how could I say no to that?) I said "Sure, honey". She sat down, looked across the table and said to her friend: "That's what you call the best mom in the UNIVERSE!"

Just the two of us

Abby was out of town so Chloe and I were on our own for the day. I took her down to pick out a new game for her 3DS. She was so completely excited about it! She said "Now I know why they call it BEST buy!"
Then we went to get Chloe some socks- its always funny picking out socks for her- she rarely wears the pairs together so I try to choose packs with similar shape and color so they at least coordinate somehow...pretty sure all my attempts are lost in the rest of the outfit on any given day. :)
We had some fun trying on hats at the store. I always think she looks so good in hats- even if they are big and silly. When we got home she had a fudge pop for her treat. She loves them, and they're mostly guilt free to give to her. So we're both happy. Then she couldn't wait to try our her new game, once she figured it out, she couldn't say enough how much she loved it.
I sewed her some Chloe-sized non gloves. Her little hands get very wind-burned so we were devising a way to protect them. They look pretty good on her, and she loves them! Hooray for recycled shirt cuffs.

Keeping warm together

We went to dinner with Grandma Kris and Papa John, but Chloe didn't bring her jacket in. (no surprise there) As we were waiting for Papa to bring the car up, Kris and Chloe were keeping warm. At first Chloe was bummed we couldn't go to the restaurant she wanted, but she did a great job changing her perspective and getting excited about going to a new place- which she ended up really liking, of course. :)
A few times recently Papa John has come over in the mornings to help is out by bringing Chloe to school. It's always cute to hear their stories about what they talked about in the morning. This time, they drew pictures and talked about a distant land that had whistling deer and whistling birds. The female deer have wings that always stay up...etc. Chloe's ideas and imagination are super detailed creative. She gets really into her stories and will be sure to correct you if you get it wrong.
